I am a registered nurse and have been working in this field for over 13 years. I am involved in Delegated Nursing and completing Nursing Quality Assessment Reviews. I have been married to Jim for 21 years. We have 2 children; Amber is 18 and Austin is 15. I enjoy scrapbooking and attending sporting events. I have several pets; 2 dogs, 2 bearded dragons, a 125 gallon fish tank with several fish, and a cat. I wasn’t happy about the cat showing up, but she has become the queen of the house. I started in this field because of my Aunt Patsy, she has Down Syndrome and moved into my parent’s home after my Grandma passed away in 1994. My brother was graduating high school and I was getting married but my parents did not think twice about welcoming her to our home.  She is a blessing to our family and can make a friend wherever she goes. I enjoy my job because I am able to do work that helps improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities.

My desire is to inspire others to reach unexpected potential. I have been in the DD field for 18 years. During my 11 years at MEORC, I have supervised Eligibility and the Transitions Developmental Disability (TDD) Waiver.  I was a Learning Community, Person Centered Thinking Trainer and trained in LEAN. In addition, I have been certified by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities to conduct Provider Compliance Reviews, as well as administer the (C)oedi, ODDP and AAI.  Other responsibilities include ensuring County Boards and Providers are in compliance with state of Ohio rules and regulations through accreditation readiness and Medicaid Waiver Reviews, as well as various provider and Service and Support Administration trainings.   I am a certified Service and Support Supervisor and received a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Akron in Business and Organizational Communications.

I bring over 20 years of customer service experience and over 8 years of administrative assistant/office support experience. I LOVE what MEORC is all about and what we do. I am inspired by Helen Keller and her teacher, Annie Sullivan. They show with the right mindset, nothing is impossible.

I am intrigued with how the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio are expressed in nature. Think of a nautilus shell, a sunflower or a pinecone.

I grew up in Butler, Ohio but have lived in Florida and Virginia. In 2018, I moved back to Ohio to be near family. I have two sons, Alex and KJ, a daughter-in-law, Rachelle and a grand dog, Leia.

I live with my youngest son, KJ, in the country. If I am not with family, reading, knitting or crocheting, you will find me at Storyside Church serving/volunteering.

I've worked in the non-profit and public sector since I graduated from Indiana University in 2000, beginning my career with Ohio University’s Office of Development, where I also met Jason (an OU grad), and we were married in 2003.  I began my work in the DD field in 2007 at Muskingum County Board, spending four years as the Business Manager.  I have an MBA from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.  Though I love numbers, a challenge, and supporting people; in March of 2014 my real love came to life when Jason and I welcomed our first son, Oliver.  In December 2015, we welcomed our second son, Jackson, and I made the tough (and easy, at the same time) decision to refocus and give up my career.  I love that beginning in May 2016, MEORC gave me the opportunity to do both.  I work (part-time) for MEORC, which gives me the chance to continue to help support people; while also focusing on my family and being a stay at home mom (the best and most rewarding, while toughest and challenging jobs I’ll ever have).

My mom began working in the field as a licensed social worker long before I was born. You could say I grew up in the field and I often joke about learning my first Medicaid rule when I was about 4 years old, at least that’s how I remember it anyway. I took my first job working for an agency provider on my 18th birthday. Since that time, I have spent the last 16 years working and experiencing aspects of every job you can imagine in our field. A lot of my expertise comes at the provider level and draws on those experiences. If you’ve ever taken a training with me, you may know I am quite the story teller. It seems that people learn best when you’re willing to share your experiences with them, rather than just talking at them. We have a 3 year old son named David who was named after my grandfather and 3 dogs. Some people know me as the guy with cool suspenders. Oh, and the answer is yes. Yes, people snap them – randomly. Sometimes even strangers can’t resist. One thing you might not know about me is that I am a musician and have tried my hand at acting. I worked in haunted houses at both Cedar Point and Geauga Lake. There was also a film I was in where I got to act (and use the green screen) in a Cleveland movie studio.
